Steps to create an app specific password in Yahoo Mail

  • Log in to your Yahoo Mail account.
  • On the web page, select your profile name and then choose Account Info.
  • Select the Account Security option.
  • Enable two-step verification on your Yahoo account.
  • Click Generate app password.
  • You can choose the version of Outlook such as Outlook iOS, Outlook Android, or Outlook Desktop from the menu.
  • Click on the Generate button.
  • A window will appear with the password and instructions for using it. Make a note of the created password.

  • Go to the File tab and select File.
  • Now, select Add Account.

  • Under the User Information section, type in your name and your Yahoo email address.
  • Under the Logon Information section, enter your email address and the app password in the User Name and Password fields.
  • Choose the More Settings option.
  • Go to the Outgoing Server tab. 
  • Click the check box My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
  • Choose the radio button Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
  • Move to the Advanced tab.
  • For both the Incoming server (IMAP) and Outgoing server (SMTP), select SSL and TLS as the encrypted connection type.
  • In the Incoming server (IMAP) field, enter 993.
  • In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, enter 465.
  • Click OK to return to the POP and IMAP Account Settings window.
  • If all the information entered is correct, click  Next.
  • Finally, click Close > Finish.
